I Love Being Used

I Want to be Used, and Love Being Used

I Love Being Used
Sabrina Cuadra

My friend, Katie, said not too long ago that she loves to be used. For a second ,I thought it was one of the worst things she could've said, but then, I began to realize she meant that she loves to be used by God. So I agree, I love being used.

We have a God who loves us and wants only the best for us. And He uses us. He has a plan for us that is only the best. Yes, bad things happen to us during that plan, but it's only because something better is coming. Sometimes bad things need to happen to us for us to be molded and to grow stronger. Because when you're stronger, you can help someone else who is going through the same thing. You can take a lot of the pain away because you went through it, too. He has a plan, and while sometimes we suffer, we know He suffered the worst and understands our suffering. Jesus was tempted, too. Jesus suffered pain, too. Jesus experienced distance from God, too. Jesus cried, too. He gets it.

"About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, 'Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?' (which means 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?')." -Matthew 27:49

"Jesus wept" -John 11:35

I love being used by a God who wants to use me to show others love, joy, patience, appreciation, and so much more. He uses us to love others like how He loves them, except He loves them more than we could. He uses others so that they can pour blessings on to us, so we can pour blessings on to others, and it continues in a cycle. He uses our suffering to bless others and to bless us.

He wants us to push through the pain because He is using us, He is going to use this pain, He is going to use our suffering, He is going to use what we gain from these trials and temptations to make us and others stronger. And He is never done teaching us, He is never done using us.

"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." -Romans 5:3-4

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
