CNA. To some that means someone who just wipes butts for a living but to actual cnas it's much more than that. I have been a CNA for three years now and in that three years I have learned so much from my residents. They tell me stories about their life and I can learn how things were back then. I have also learned patience and I am more compassionate towards others.
Being a CNA takes muscle and compassion. You have to lift people to move them from place to place. Most of the time the resident is dead weight. Working the midnight shift I have to lift a lot of residents to get them up in the morning for breakfast. During my shift I also have to roll them to change their beds if they are incontinent through out the night. Sometimes you have residents who like to fight you and be hateful towards you but you have to know that they cannot help it and you have to love them no matter what.
People say that it takes a strong and special person to be a CNA and I do believe that with all of my heart. I love being a CNA and I'm glad that I am that person.
