Sports mean very different things to many different people. When most people think of the average sports fan, they do not usually think of someone like me: a college girl who loves the color pink, makeup, the beach, fashion, reality television and, of course, the shopping. However, I am an extremely passionate sports fan and sports, in general, mean a lot to me. I could not imagine my life without my love of sports. As a child, I never found my niche playing sports like basketball and soccer but I always admired those who excelled in sports. Then, I found a new passion: hockey.
My discovery of this passion for the sport of hockey came about randomly and unexpectedly. My parents never really watched sports and they were never a significant part of my household. Then one day almost eight years ago, I stumbled upon highlights on the local news from one of the Boston Bruins games. I found myself glued to the television. Suddenly, I was hooked. There was no explanation, I was just drawn to the game. In the following days, I found myself printing out the season's schedule for the Bruins and learning the names of the players. My parents were shocked when I told them that I wanted to watch hockey games but they allowed me to do so. I began to watch more and more of the games as the weeks went on until it got to the point where I never missed a game. My mom became interested in hockey as well and she began to watch the games with me. I have been a diehard Bruins fan ever since.
I continue to support the Bruins no matter what. Even though it can be an emotional rollercoaster at times when you support a sports team, there are few things that are better than when your team has success. I am invested in the players of the Boston Bruins and I genuinely support them all so much. I love following each and every one of their careers and personal lives. I know how hard the players work every day and how dedicated they are to the game. I admire the players so much and I appreciate their physical and personal sacrifices that they all make for the sport. Being a Bruin is more than just being a great hockey player, it is also about being a good person. The charitable efforts of the individual Bruins players and the organization as a whole are truly outstanding and more professional sports teams should strive to do as much good for the community as the Bruins do. The truth is, players on the Boston Bruins are people who I myself admire and they are excellent role models that children should look up to. In the Bruins organization, every player really does understand that the logo on the front of their jerseys is more important than the name on the back and in professional sports, that is something you do not see often.
I am proud to be a Boston Bruins hockey fan. The game of hockey itself is my absolute favorite sport to watch (I am not a good ice skater at all). The game is so physically demanding, gritty, dangerous, and simply amazing. Of course, I love the way the Bruins play and I like the high standards that the team has for the players. No matter what is going on in my life, I can look forward to watching the games and supporting my team. Of course, going to the TD Garden to watch a Bruins game in person is one of my absolute favorite things to do. There is nothing like being surrounded by thousands of people who love Boston Bruins hockey just like you do. Even when the Bruins are struggling, I am still their biggest fan and will continue to watch their games. I am one of those fans who yells at the television when there is a bad call or when the other team scores. I am one of those fans who jumps up and celebrates when the Bruins score or win a game. I do these things because I am a passionate fan who cares a lot about the Bruins. I am emotionally invested in the Bruins and I love bonding with other people who feel the same way as I do. I am very lucky to have such an amazing hockey team represent the city and sport that I love in such a great way. I am truly lucky and proud to be a Bruins fan.
