I am called to love bullies. I am called to love prostitutes. I am called to love alcoholics. I am called to love murders. I am called to love criminals. I am called to love liars. I am called to love addicts. I am called to love "geeks". I am called to love homosexuals. I am called to love gluttons. I am called to love porn addicts. I am called to love outcasts. I am called to love gossipers. I am called to love the rich as well as the poor. I am called to love drug dealers. I am called to love cheaters. I am called to love adulterers. I am called to love all races. I am called to love the down right mean. I am called to love all religious denominations. I am called to love politicians and corrupt leaders. I am called to love Hillary Clinton. I am called to love Donald Trump.
You may ask why??? Why would I be called to love people who have done such cruel things? I am called to love all people because I am no different than them. I was born a sinner, I still sin today, and I will sin until the day I die. But, you know what? Despite my sin filled actions, God still loved me enough to send His son to save me-- before I was even alive! Jesus loves everyone. He loves the sinful, broken, lost, and found! No amount of sin will ever be enough to take away the love He has for us.
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16-17 KJV
Did you know that Jesus spent time with sinners? He spent time with them not because he was okay with their sin but because he loved them. He built loving relationships with them while telling them of their sins and instructing them to stop. God instructs us to do the same.
15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. 16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? 17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Mark 2:15-17 KJV
In fact, did you know that Jesus called sinners and ordinary men to become his disciples? They were tax collectors, fishermen, and criminals filled with compulsive, greedy, judgmental, short-tempered, dishonest, and doubtful actions. Yet, Jesus constantly surrounded himself with these men. He loved them, encouraged them, and taught them how they were supposed to live. Did you know that some of the most prominent biblical "characters" were guilty of sins? Noah was a drunk. Moses was a murderer. King David was an adulterer and murderer. Apostle Paul hunted then killed Christians. God used these ordinary men as His servants to spread His love and teach us some of the most valuable biblical lessons.
8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 4:8 KJV
God created us all in His image. Therefore, He loves us all. (19 1 John 4:19) If I am loved by Him, so is everyone else. If He is able to love everyone, then I am also able to love those around me. We are all worthy of His love. We often hear the word "unlovable" when describing people who may be difficult to love. We are all truly unlovable due to our sinning nature. But, that unlovable quality has been taken away and replaced with love, forgiveness, and grace. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 KJV
I encourage all of my brothers and sisters in Christ to join me in working on showing love to all. Let us spread love but also shine light on the wrongness in our world. We are to "love God, love people, and be disciples". We must share his love to share with others the righteousness that is possible through Christ. God loves everyone but He still does not support sin. Also, although we are loved by Christ, He will not accept us into eternity if we do not accept Him while we are still on earth.
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. 1 John 3:36
"Those who are the hardest to love, need it the most." -Socrates
