Shades of red and blue, statues of a fierce but protective bulldog, and tall buildings that contain many classrooms and desks for learning. You might wonder just what place I'm describing. This wonderful scenery belongs to Louisiana Tech University. I will get to see it every week since I am an incoming freshman this fall. I moved in yesterday and met my roommate and her family. I'm not going to lie, I thought I was confident. My confidence fell as soon as I stepped into my dorm room! It felt like the universe was trying to tell me that I am officially in the real world now. Don't get me wrong, I am very anxious to start school this Thursday. At the same time, however, I realize that I'm growing up. This is just the beginning of my life. I have a chance to make new friends, get involved in things I never thought I would be a part of, and begin the journey of having a career. All these new experiences are going to mold me into the adult I've always hoped to be. If you're a college freshman like me, don't be afraid. This will be a life changing experience that gives you a chance to be independent. As they say in High School Musical, we're all in this together.
