Puppy Love?

Have you ever loved a puppy?

Puppy love? No, I am not talking about when two people fall in love and the first stages are considered puppy love. I'm not talking about having a crush on somebody -- that's called puppy love. I am actually talking about love from a puppy, and does love really get much better?

Recently, my family adopted two black Labs, they are about 10-week- old, and the cutest bundles of fluff. We adopted a little boy puppy named "Hurkey" and a little girl puppy named "Daisy Mae" (but I call her Daisy Dukes because it's so much more fitting, in my opinion). I have never experienced having a puppy before, (let alone two) and considering I am out of the house already, I won't have a lot of time watching them grow up into dogs. Until school starts again in about a week, I am spending a great amount of time over at my family's seeing the puppies, and I think I fell in "puppy love."

I never realized how great having a puppy so close is. Besides the fact that they bite and eat everything, they are the cutest. Hurkey is a nutcase, but in a good way. He likes to bite and be wild! His favorite thing to do is run all over the house, chew his Kong toy, and attempt to jump up on the furniture (but he can't because he's still too little.) Daisy Dukes is the sweetheart. She gives kisses, and will sleep with you at night. Although, she does have some personality features that involve a little moodiness and going after Hurkey (but playing, of course) I have never seen cuter puppies.

Having two puppies, they also have Jadie Jones, who is a 6-year old Beagle. At first, she wanted nothing to do with them, especially Hurkey. Jadie is a little spoiled and thinks everything is hers in the house, and having the new puppies really made her rethink the way she acts.

Now, Jadie has one single gross toy that she is obsessed with and carries around. The puppies can have any other toy, except for Jadie's one! Jadie is also learning how to share, and she is even taking the role of mommy-ing the puppies. Whenever the puppies are doing something they aren't suppsoed to do that's when the old girl, Jadie Jones, gets involved and tells them to knock it off. Jadie also makes sure that they eat their food, and don't hurt each other when they play fight with each other. If one gets to rough with another she will step in the middle and break it up. So, I guess Jadie is experiencing some puppy love?

Puppy love is in the air around me as these last few days of summer come to an end. I can't wait to spend my last couple days loving these wonderful dogs, so here's to my puppies and an ol' girl, too. I love you Hurkey, Daisy and Jadie Jones!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
