There Is A Lot To Be Thankful For

Thanksgiving doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

There Is A Lot To Be Thankful For

It happens every year: we go straight from Halloween to Christmas in the blink of an eye. While I am an avid lover of Christmas carols and holiday baking, there is a day that falls in-between that far too frequently is overlooked.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it is a time to reflect so that we can realize that in the midst of our crazy messed up world, there are always reasons to be thankful. It is so easy to get caught up in negativity and to feel as if nothing will go our way. How can we possibly find reasons to be thankful when everyday there seems to be news of a mass shooting headlining every newspaper or another political scandal? It is hard to be positive in an era where negativity almost seems to be the norm.

I think that now more than ever we need more positivity in the world, and that starts with realizing that this life gives us so many things to be thankful for, even if they are small.

Take a look around you and you might surprise yourself, I think that we all might be able to find one extra thing to be especially thankful for this year.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
