It can be hard trying to navigate all the many beauty products. It's especially difficult when you are a girl who was never really interested in makeup growing up. When I search for make-up at a store, I'm as confused as a deer in headlights. Here are 13 questions that plague the minds of females like me who are challenged when it comes to makeup.
1. Why in the world are there so many options of makeup?
There are countless brands, types, and forms. I feel like they should have a section made just for the basics.
2. You mean there is more than one type of brush?
For a long time I thought the only brush used was for blush.
3. Why would someone need a makeup bag that big?
My go-to makeup (when I happen to wear it) consists of one foundation, a powder, bronze eye shadow, lip-gloss, and mascara.
4. Is that pencil for drawing in your eyebrows, eyeliner or writing on a piece of paper?
Until I went shopping for makeup, I thought pencils were only used for paper.
5. Who thought of creating an eyelash curler?
This contraption is made to pinch your eyelid. It should be classified as cruel and unusual punishment.
6. Aren't all of those lipsticks red?
Blaze, Very Cherry, Chili Flake, Sizzle, and Heat Wave all are fancy ways of saying red when it comes to lipstick.
7. How do I know if this matches my skin tone?
I guess you just close your eyes and pick one. How am I supposed to know if I have cool or warm undertones?
8. Why am I supposed to use a sponge on my face?
Last time I checked sponges were used for cleaning, but apparently they are a pivotal part of proper foundation blending.
9. How can girls do a smoky eye?
If I attempt this look I come out looking like a raccoon or I've been in fight.
10. What is contouring?
You lost me when you said I needed more than one shade of foundation.
11. Why do I keep poking myself in the eye?
Surely, putting on eyeliner is some cruel joke no one told me about.
12. Is this flavored lip gloss edible?
Strawberry, peaches and cream, green apple, cherry coke, yum.
13. Is this supposed to feel like face paint?
This must be what it feels like to be a clown.
I am so proud of all the women who have mastered this makeup world, but for now I will stick to the bare minimum.
