To the girl who has been preoccupied with school, work, or others, don't be too discouraged. You may have “lost" yourself, but you'll find everything you've lost and more. Pick your head up, and don't let this chapter take over the entire book that is your life.
School takes up the majority of any of any college students life, but time management is key! Don't overload yourself with classes and organizations. Don't say yes or volunteer for everything. Spend your time wisely. Also, don't agree to work more hours than you should. Make sure you'll have enough time to complete your school work and still somewhat have a personal life. Finally, don't give your all to someone who doesn't reciprocate the feelings or someone who is just going to use you, this includes friends or significant others. For example, if you should study, don't agree to go out. It's that simple.
I heard a quote last week by Rebecca Campbell, "bless the thing that broke you down and cracked you open because the world needs you open." This made me think about how important it is to not be so closed minded and allow yourself to embrace new ideas. It is vital that you realize that you are going to fall, your walls are going to break, and you will be okay when it is all said and done. If you keep your walls up through life, you'll never be able to see and experience the beauty of life. It is going to take you a hot minute to realize this, but you are not going to be able to flourish, if you don't fall. When you fall, you are humbled.
Be sure to set your needs as a priority. You must realize that it is okay to put your needs above others sometimes. I'm not saying you should go over board and only care about yourself, but you cannot consistently put others needs first or above you're own. Remember, you are beautiful, you are loved, and you are worth it.
