Stand-up comedy is an art form which, as a whole, often goes unappreciated. Its typically minimalist format is overlooked; therefore, many extremely talented individuals go by unnoticed by society’s majority. However, laughter is a concept in which individuals of all walks of life can share. This certainly makes comedy worth a second, deeper look past household names and comedic "what's the deal with airplane food" stereotypes, starting with this list of some of the best, most underrated comedians of today. These three men are not only side-splitting funny, but passionate about the work they do. Their ability to share their lives so candidly with an audience is bound to make your day.

1. Pete Holmes

From Lexington, Massachusetts, Holmes has two full comedy albums, "Impregnated with Wonder"and "Nice Try, The Devil." He also hosts his own podcast "You Made It Weird," which features both well known and up-and-coming comedians discussing their experiences and beliefs in a way that will make you feel, well, a little weird—but in a good way.

2. Myq Kaplan

He appeared on one of the first seasons of "Last Comic Standing" and currently tours comedy clubs throughout North America. He has a podcast called "Hang Out With Me" which, similar to Holmes' podcast, features comedians and other well known figures talking about their lives and perspectives on society. Who knew self awareness could be so funny?

3. Mike Birbiglia

Birbilgia is an actor and a comedian from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. He has been featured in well known shows and movies like "The Fault in our Stars" and "Orange is the New Black." He also writes the blog "My Secret Public Journal," sharing information about touring and stories in the same dry, witty way that he shares his life with audiences on stage.

In the words of Jean Houston, "At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities." Next time you're online with some free time, listen to a new comedian. Develop an appreciation for those who appreciate laughter like comedians do, because laughter is a crucial aspect of what makes us human.

College students, you might be able to relate to this one. These probably sound familiar because we often tell ourselves these phrases; however, we are unable to follow or agree with these the following, deep down inside of our overwhelmed, tired minds.

1. "No more spending money on useless things"

Until you walk into a 99 cents store and suddenly have the urge to pick up anything that's less than a dollar.
