Losing A Pet

Your lifelong friend

Losing A Pet
Cheney Mason

Losing my pet dog, who I grew up with since I was young, was one of the hardest things I have had to go through. It’s like losing a part of your family because you loved them as you would your siblings…maybe sometimes a little more! Pets love you unconditionally and are so comforting when you need it so when you lose them, it’s heartbreaking.

The love and happiness dogs bring to us makes it that much harder when they leave us even though you still have all of the great memories that bond the two of you forever. Dogs are one of the greatest blessings and sometimes I took that for granted, but if I look back on all of the memories and cuddles and walks we shared, I find comfort in knowing that my dog now in heaven, had an amazing life with us and gave us so much love in return. Our family dog was truly our best friend and still will continue to hold a very special place in our hearts forever.

Losing any pet is always so difficult because they have been a part of your life and your family for so long that it’s hard to think of a life without seeing their cute little faces each and every day. It’s hard to come home to find the place where their toys or bed used to be, empty or the sounds of their little paws no longer there. We all grow such a deep attachment to our pets and I never wanted to imagine a time when I wouldn’t see my dog running through our backyard or lying on the couch with me snuggled in blankets.

When you have grown up with your dog for so long and it's your first pet to go, it's one of the worst feelings to experience. It's easy to feel that they are irreplaceable and no other dog or any pet in general could ever compare, and that may be true but pets in the hands of loving and caring owners live the happiest and best lives and they want us owners to be happy too because we deserve it.

Give your own healthy pets a big hug in honor of my dog from childhood who has recently passed because your little fur babies deserve it! Dog heaven gained a very special little angel.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
