The Truth About Losing Your Sister

Death is unavoidable. It is a part of life. Like most kids, I never thought about death; people died when they got old, and that was just the way the world worked. Until it didn't.

I will always regret not telling my sister that I loved her that day...but like anyone else, we think we have endless days and skip out on saying the things we mean to the people who mean the most to us. I am here to tell you that tomorrow is not promised. Treat every day like it could be your last and make sure everyone around you knows how much you love them and how much they mean to you.

The truth about losing a sibling is that it is not something anyone can warn you about or even help you through, but it is a journey that you have to endure on your own; you have to learn how to live every day of your life without them, but with them fully in mind. You cannot just move on and try to play like things are okay because that will not get you anywhere. You have to learn that this is the new you and your new life and you have to learn to cope in the best way possible.

Losing someone you love isn’t something anyone can ever prepare you for; it is one of the hardest things I have ever gone through (and continue to go through), but you have to learn that you are still here for a reason...so make that reason worth living for.

Overcoming a tragedy is not just about moving on from what happened; it is about strength and courage...the courage to be able to continue fighting.

When I lost my sister, I thought I lost my best friend, but truthfully, I gained an angel that watches over me every single day.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.
