This poem is dedicated to all of the family, friends, and neighbors I have lost and to those that others have. Loss is never easy, whether it comes in the form of death, disease, heartbreak, separation, or anything else. In Still Seeing You I try to delve into the emotions and struggles of those left to deal with the tragedy of loss, and how hard it can be to find strength again.
Still Seeing You
It’s funny
How much life changes
Without that person
As you walk through
Your day,
You see
Pieces of them on
Every corner and
Within the smiles
Of strangers.
The photos
On your phone
Will always hold
Memories of them
For Years,
But pain
doesn’t lessen so
easily inside your
heart and time
slows down.
Yet they
will always be
with you in the
simple things
you see,
like the
breeze, the ocean,
the moon, laughter,
a hug, or even
your reflection,
You will
never fully let go,
but you’ll be able to
forever contain parts
of them.
