We all lose friends throughout our lives, some to death, others to different life phases. One friend decides to get married and settle down, the other is still in the party phase. Many friendships erode this way, and the ending happens gradually. But what about the friendships that end without warning? Or the ones where one single argument ends it for good? We never talk about the impact that this can have on us. We tend to focus all of our attention in the media on romantic breakups, as losing a boyfriend/girlfriend seems to be the "worst pain anyone can feel". But let's face it, losing a boyfriend would be much easier than losing your best friend. We can handle losing the romance in our lives, but not the comfort and laughter that a best friend brings. Who else would bring you ice cream after you spent nights crying over that loser who dumped you, or send you memes of cats to cheer you up over a failed test grade? Losing a friend feels like building a large Jenga tower only to watch it fall at the last second. We build memories, road trips, and years of solidity, only to watch all of it crumble within only a second over an argument about a guy or an unanswered text. However, maybe the friends we lose over things like this aren't meant to be in our lives forever. Maybe we're supposed to be hurt over a best friend suddenly cutting you out of their lives for no reason. Or finding someone "better". Aren't best friends supposed to stay forever though? In a perfect world, this would be the case.We would all die with our best friend and a bottle of wine in both of our hands. Sadly, such as with romantic breakups, some people only stay in our lives temporarily then leave. With a romantic relationship, we know that the person can end it at any time without warning. So we prepare for it. We're never prepared for a friendship to end. But they can, and they do. Losing a friend feels like actual never ending heartbreak. However, at the end of it all is someone else who will actually stay in your life and buy you all the ice cream in the world when you need it. Those are the types of friends worth having. Wait for them.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
