Lakers Direction Following Another Losing Season

There is so much history in the Lakers organization that it is frustrating for their fans to witness another dismal season.

Although they finished the season winning five of the last six games, they failed to stay consistent at both ends of the floor through out the year.

The Lakers finished the season with a record of 26-56 which was the leagues third worst record.

The Lakers' problems this year wasn't so much their scoring, but their inability to get stops on the defensive end.

They ranked 28th in opponent points allowed per game.

Heading into the NBA Draft and free agency season, the Lakers could really use players with efficient defense.

Since the Lakers didn't tank completely at the end of the season, they risked their chances of a lottery pick this year.

This year's draft class features several elite players such as Markelle Fultz, Lonzo Ball, Josh Jackson and D'Aaron Fox.

Lakers fans have stressed the desire to hopefully draft Lonzo Ball especially after his successful year at UCLA.

If they fail to obtain a top three pick in this year's lottery, the pick will fall to Philadelphia. Looks like they are still hurting from the Steve Nash and Dwight Howard trades.

To make matters worse, the Lakers only have a little wiggle room in their budget to sign top players this summer due to the generous contracts of Timofey Mozgov and Luol Deng.

Although they had another disappointing year, there were some glimpses of progression from their youth.

D'Angelo Russell led the Lakers in scoring with 15.6 ppg while Julius Randle improved his scoring and field goal shooting percentage.

Brandon Ingram probably had the most encouraging year.

At the start of the season, Ingram struggled to find his shot but after the All Star break he averaged 13.2 ppg on 47.5 percent shooting.

During this stint, Ingram showed versatility, athleticism and signs of defensive effort.

Adding a star to the mix would only strengthen the Lakers hopes of returning to the playoffs.

However, they need to wait another season in order for that to happen.

It would be hard for them to match any offers for players like Paul George or Jimmy Buttler and they have shown that they can't draw big name players to LA until they improve.

The Lakers' best bet this offseason is to hopefully obtain a top three pick in the draft and improve their young core.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
