Finals week...it has come. Papers, presentations, and exams are abounding this week. As we finish these last final days, packing up our entire lives and making sure that we complete every last task set for us on the syllabus (to which we have been holding so tightly to all semester), we find ourselves in need of encouragement. We need someone to explain what we are feeling, because we might not even know ourselves. "The Lord of the Rings" was an epic masterpiece of three movies that gave amazing quotes, shots, acting, and stories. The material in "The Lord of the Rings" is endless, so I decided to do a three-part series with it to get you through the end of the semester, and it is time for it to come to an end. The final installment will give you finals week as told by "The Lord of the Rings."

1. When you stand up to give your final presentation

It can be surreal to say the least, but when you stand up to give your final speech, it is one of the best feelings. Embrace it—you are almost done.

2. When you look at your final exam and remember what you didn't study

You get that stapled test, flip to the first page and realize what you were sure was not going to be on the test, is on the test.

3. When you hand your professor your completed final

You have to choke down your last few pleads for mercy.

4. When your classmate asks how you got your answer for number five

Does it really matter, as long as you got an answer and wrote it down?

5. When someone asks how the exam went

It's over; what else could you ask for?

6. When you realize your next exam is tomorrow and its time to start studying.

Because there is always another final.

7. When you wake up from dreams about summer

And you slowly realize you have two finals and a paper due that day.

8. When people start talking about the test you just took

And you don't really want to know exactly what you did wrong because it's too late to fix it anyway.

9. When you can finally celebrate the end of finals week

Too bad it's time to start packing now...

10. When you step on the plane or get on the road to go home

Packing, papers, tests, and paperwork are done. You can relax from here on out...or until it's time to start your summer job.

Finals week has arrived, but you have been prepping for this all semester, and if you haven't, well, go study, because in a few weeks summer starts and you have time to give your brain a break. From packing, exams, papers and all there rest of the stressful things, I hope that "The Lord of the Rings" has encouraged you these past few weeks, or in the very least, inspired your summer reading list, or movie-watching plans.

Go take your finals!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
