Lord Please Save Me

This story is one of my favorites because I apply it in my daily life.

Lord Please Save Me

Lord please forgive me. When do you know when Jesus has had enough? I know I’m not the strongest Christian, but I do believe in God. Also, I know that there is a heaven and a hell, and I sure don’t want to be in hell.

Let’s be honest really quick. What would you do if you knew Jesus was coming tomorrow? Would you not worry because you know with all your heart you’re ready? Would you drop to your knees and ask for forgiveness because you know you’ve been doing wrong? Or, would you immediately go get baptized?

This is a question I ask myself daily. My religion is a big part of who I am. I’m Church of Christ and don’t believe in many things. However, when I see the things, I don’t act on them. You can live a great life for Christ. However, sometimes I feel like I’m too deep in sin, and I need somebody to throw me a life preserver. The biggest problem I have is not letting people know when I need help.

I have a fear of people judging me, and I don’t want anybody knowing my business. So, I don’t know how I would get help, if I can’t voice it and say I need it. I know that I pray every night to God and ask him to pray for me and help me. Devastating God is the worst feeling ever. It’s like you know it’s wrong, but you do it anyway.

In Matthew 25:1-13, there is the Parable of the Ten Virgins, also known as the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins. There were ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. When they took their lamps, those who were foolish took no oil with them, but the wise brought oil for their lamps. While the bridegroom is delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

But at midnight there was a cry, "Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!" Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the wise, "Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out." But, the wise answered, saying, "What if there isn't enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves."

While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, "Lord, Lord, open to us." But, he answered, "Most certainly I tell you, I don't know you."

Watch therefore, for you don't know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. This parable is applicable for us today. You never know when Jesus is coming. You need to be ready. You don’t want to be like the five foolish virgins that couldn’t go to the wedding feast. Instead, you want to be like the five wise virgins.

You can do this by studying your Bible daily, sharing God’s word, and treating people like you want to be treated, going to church and allowing the Word to dwell in you. This story is one of my favorites because I apply it in my daily life. People think just because we are Christians, we can’t be happy. Happiness comes from within. As Christians we should be some of the happiest people on the earth, because we at least have an opportunity for eternal life. I know I’m not always doing my best, but I’m going on the right path every day because I know where I want my eternal home to be.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
