After finally completing my first semester of college, I am a nocturnal zombie. These last few weeks certainly flew by with sleepless nights and endless papers. Now that I am done, I am looking forward to being home. Here are a few things that I am looking forward to the most...
1. SLEEP
I do not even want to talk about how messed up my sleep schedule is right now. It is actually quite concerning. For the past two weeks, I have not gone to sleep until at least 4 am. I cannot even say I stayed up until 4 am studying though because I would usually be done studying and writing papers by 2 am. But by that time, I would be hungry and have the urgent desire to watch a movie on Netflix. This would all turn into a huge regret as my alarm rung at 9 am for my 10 am final. I have had at least three cups of coffee a day. That is how my eyes are still open right now. Although, I think I may have forgotten how to blink.
2. Spending some quality time with the family.
Although I do go to the same college as my twin brother, I still only see him roughly once a week for lunch. And he is one piece of my family puzzle. I have missed my parents and dog a lot as well this semester. I am looking forward to being home for a whole month where I get to spend some quality time with all of them together. We all definitely need to see the new "Star Wars" movie and go on some adventures looking for the house with the best Christmas lights in town.
3. Catching up with old friends.
It feels like just yesterday I was hugging all my high school friends goodbye wishing them good luck with moving in and everything. Three months later, there is a lot to catch up on! I have several close friends back home that I haven't had the time to talk to as much as I would have liked to while I was in school. Those 5-minute face time calls could only cover so much. That being said, there are many plans to be made. I will probably be at Applebee's half-apps every night, especially if it's karaoke night.
4. Driving
I did not think I would miss this as much as I did, but I definitely missed the freedom of driving. My college campus is easily walkable so I really never had to drive anywhere. Nevertheless, I am so excited to get behind the wheel again and blast 97.1 or 98.3 because they are playing some good holiday tunes. I want to drive anywhere and everywhere for the next month while I can!
5. Shopping
I really have not shopped in the past three months... unless you count the University bookstore? I am definitely looking forward to visiting all the local malls... and maybe not-so-local malls so it can be an excuse to drive more. Plus, I have to finish buying gifts!
Overall, I am looking forward to this one-month long winter break. I feel like I am living in a dream with no homework, readings, papers, or projects to do. Is it sad I almost wish I had some syllabuses from the upcoming semester to get ahead on some work? No, it's okay, actually. If you need me, I'm probably sleeping.
