The new semester is almost upon us after a month off, when activities ranged from catching up with old high school friends, to traveling to see family. While the spring semester is not as fun as fall in Statesboro, here are a few things to look forward to for the next six months.
Formal. Free cooler, a weekend at the beach, and copious amounts of alcohol. What else could you wish to have during spring semester? Girls love it for the dressing up for the dinner, and the weekend away. And guys, well we like it for the cooler and what's inside. All jokes aside, formal is one of the best functions a fraternity should have and is a must to go to.
Spring break. Cancun, PCB, or a cruise -- wherever you plan on going for the week, make sure it is just not at a week at home or stuck in Statesboro. Spring break, also known as the greatest time you'll never remember, is a great time to be with your friends, work on your tan, and completely forget about any of the work you might have for the next week.
Pool season. As the semester progresses, Statesboro turns up the heat with temperatures consistently hitting the upper 80s and 90s. So, to beat the heat or a long day of class, head to one of the many pools. Many housing complexes throw pool parties throughout the semester, which is a good way to catch some sun.
Spring concert. Every year, Georgia Southern throws a spring concert near the end of the semester. Last year, Lady Antebellum came to Statesboro; in 2012, The Fray and The Band Perry visited. I've never been to one, but this year the short list of artists being considered includes Rich Homie Quan and Migos. If you have a free Saturday, definitely consider going to this event at least once in your college career.
