All my life I have liked school. I don't know why exactly, but I have never had issues with resumption or coming to the holiday's end. Whether it was day school, boarding school or homeschool (which I have all done), I always looked forward to continuing school and going to class. I’ll be starting my second year of college next month and I am already over my summer vacation. Surely some days in the rush of the coming semester I’ll long for these lazy days, but that is far from the case now. Maybe it has to do with my crazy moral belief in work and my love for being productive and, honestly, useful. A lot of people I have met over the years do not share this love at all, and it has been strange to me and also to them.
One reason I’m looking forward to going back is getting back to my duties. I’m a fan of my routines and I enjoy the process of fitting in work, classes, leisure and extracurricular stuff into my daily USD schedule. I try to be involved in school a lot by attending most of the events organized for us, both on and off campus. I advise every starting student to do this; most are free and fun. Did I mention free?
I’m also happy to continue my education. Seriously. Tuition isn't just picked from the roadside, so I place a high value on my classes and coursework. I love learning new things and getting smarter, because knowledge is one of the few things that can't be taken from a person. I find higher education to be enjoyable because I get to actually learn what I want to and what I'm interested in.
Another reason I'm excited to return to USD is my friends. Being an international student, I live far away from my friends who are mostly American, so, even though some went back to places like the East Coast, I'm still the farthest of us all. Whether it's the weekend, a late school night, or finals period, I go through it with my friends because they make my experience as a whole worthwhile and priceless.
Whenever my holidays come to an end -- since primary school -- my dad always says, "There's time for everything." It's true. In life, there's time to rest and time to work, time to vacate and time to resume. The major key is being adjustable to the loop of life.
