Some of America’s biggest cities have inhabited me and my small canon camera for weeks at a time and have allowed me to capture incredible moments. That single box with a lens is so beyond important to me.
Why don’t other people find photography as important as I do? Why don’t others seem to understand the importance of capturing memories through a lens? I took pictures of bikes, mopeds, and dinky little cars driving through the streets of Italy and even Austria. I took pictures of things that seemed to be unimportant to others, such as a flower basket on a tattered window, or a bottle perfectly laid in the middle of a busy street.
All of those so-called unimportant things hold a story and throws a wrath of curiosity over me. The little details in life that we see everyday all come together to create a world for us. Each thing we see is a puzzle piece to create an entire picture for our memory. That moped I photographed carries an old man through the town late at night when the mist his hitting his face; the street light is the witness of everyday life for society. Capturing all of those “unimportant” aspects of my travels paint an entire picture of the culture and lifestyle I inhabit.
Capture everything you can through your small camera, it will allow you to see an entire world wherever you go whenever you see those photographs.
