20 Reasons We Need To Start Getting Excited For Summer

Summer is approaching, and this is the season when some of the best stuff happens. As school is slowly coming to an end, everyone begins losing their motivation for their school work and getting hyped up for summer. We all love summer break (even if we don’t love the season itself), but there are lots of things to celebrate about summer coming very soon.

1. Warm weather

"School's out! Scream and shout!"

3. Vacations

Whether it's the beach, camping, or whatever your family and friends like to do, the best parts of summer are having a little getaway.

4. Sleeping in

We all love/need a little extra sleep.

5. Bonfires/campfires

One of the essential parts of summer is having a fire. They're fun, memorable, and keep the bugs away!

6. S'more s'mores please

S’mores and summer are practically the same things. It’s hands down my favorite part of the summer, and everything s’mores flavored comes out this time of year!!!

7. Summer music

Artists will start releasing those summer bops we all drive with the windows down to, and the song of the summer will be named.

8. Being tan

While it is very important to wear your sunscreen, it is nice to have that summer tan where your skin is glowing.

9. Cute bathing suits

The spring is when all the cute bathing suits are released, but the summer is when we get to wear them!

10. Cute outfits

I love the summer, but I love the outfits a lot more.

11. Concerts

Where all of your drunk locals get together to have a huge party with actual singers. The summer (and the people) love concerts.

12. Going out on the lake

There are so many fun things to do out on the lake, and you're always guaranteed to have a good time.

13. Long days

Days in the summer seem never-ending (which is a good thing).

14. Longer nights

Whether you’re out all night driving or just out with friends, the nights usually turn into mornings in the summer.

15. Swimming

I’m pretty sure I was a fish in my past life. My favorite activity of the summer is swimming, what's a better way to cool down from the summer heat?

16. Ice cream

I scream! You scream! We all scream for ice cream!

17. Amusement parks

Rides, games, and food. There's nothing better, and nothing more "summer."

18. Fireflies

The first indication of summer is the first firefly you see, just saying.

19. Sunflower fields

The Beatles wrote a song called "Strawberry Fields Forever," but the summer says sunflower fields forever. They are so pretty.

20. Lantern festivals

Going to a lantern festival will make you feel like you’re in a movie. They are so beautiful and it’s something you should put on your summer bucket list. Get those Instagram pics.

The summer is a magical time, and I think it’s time we all start getting excited. The weather is already starting to get warmer, and the sun is starting to set later. We only have about a month to push through of school before we can start off our summers. The most fun season of all is coming, start making your bucket lists!

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
