Your 6 Step Guide On How to look cute without breaking the bank

In This Article:

Have you ever clicked on an article advertising an online sale and the prices start at $60? Um no thank you. College isn't getting any cheaper and neither is shopping for clothes. Whether you live in t-shirts and leggings or if you meticulously plan out your outfits this article can guide you on how to best express yourself through the way you dress and do it without breaking the bank.

Through a lot of research and practice I have compiled a list of websites and methods I swear by to find clothes that are affordable, comfortable, and stylish.

1. Nordstrom Rack/Haute Look

www.nordstromrack.com

Nordstrom Rack, both in store and online offers a variety of cute and affordable clothes that are also great quality. Some of my best deals from the Rack include a Colombia jacket for $30 down from $200, and a Levi's thick winter coat for $50 that was down from $500! Haute Look is a division of Nordstrom and its website has different sale events every day! This includes shoes, clothes, bags, and home. My best deals were Steve Madden heels and Vince Camuto heels, each were $30! To keep up to date on the events create an account and subscribe your email here.

2. ASOS

http://us.asos.com/women/

ASOS is a British online fashion retailer that carries clothes unlike any you'll find at H&M and F21. They're always having crazy sales and if they're not having a sale, you can go to their Outlet section. ASOS came through during junior prom. I got my dress for $30 down from $100! Did I mention there's a 10% off student discount and shipping is free when you spend $49.99? They're also very inclusive for all body types, selling clothing in tall, petite, curvy, fuller bust, and even maternity!

3. The trinity: Marshall's, Ross, and TJ Maxx

https://www.marshallsonline.com/

At these stores you can find the same shoes, bags, and clothes that you can at the mall, but one thing: they're much cheaper! These stores make it so much easier to look cute and not break the bank.

4. Sign up for ALL rewards programs

https://www.ulta.com/

There are so many out there and you can seriously save big by utilizing them properly. Some of my favorites are: Sephora Beauty Insider, Ulta Ultamate Rewards, Walgreens Balance rewards, and JC Penney rewards, just to name a few.

5. Pin it!

https://www.pinterest.com/

Pinterest can help you find and develop your individual style, making it easier for you to go shopping and narrow down what you like. Plus it's fun!

6. Quality over quantity, always

https://www.keepcalm-o-matic.co.uk/p/quality-over-quantity/

If it looks and feels cheap I am telling you: do not buy it. Spending a little more money on clothes that are good quality is an investment because it will last longer and you will also look good and feel better about yourself.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
