Thank you for showing me what it is to have a true friend.

“There is magic in long- distance friendships. They let you relate to other human beings in a way that goes beyond being physically together and is often more profound.”
– Diana Cortes

To My Long-Distance Best Friend:

It’s hard having an ocean separate us, however it has made us closer. I miss all the drives blasting Hannah Montana and all of our adventures around. Although we both found new schools, new friends and separate places to call home, I am glad that we always have each other and the same friendship we had back when we were juniors in high school.

Since we don’t get to see each other every day and the hours between us makes communication harder, I never get to tell you how much our friendship means to me. We are growing up and becoming better people, but I wouldn’t be the same without you.

Thank you….

...for traveling endless hours to come see me. You’ll never get enough credit for all the miles you’ve traveled to come see everyone in the U.S.A.

...for reminiscing on all the crazy things we have done together, not letting me forget one single detail.

…for being a typical tourist and taking pictures of everything. I never realized what I missed until I look through endless albums and see all the crazy things we did.

...for creating the endless amount of memories.

...for being okay with the fact that I don’t always respond immediately. Our time differences and school schedules make it hard to have continuous conversations, but something is better than nothing.

...for making it seem like we aren't miles apart. When we finally do see each other, we pick up right where we left off. Nothing changes between us, and I really appreciate that our friendship has remained the same through this time in our lives where everything seems to be changing

Most importantly, thank you for showing me what it is to have a true friend. I am not sure where I’d be without you, but I am glad I don’t have to. No matter how far apart we are, you can always count on me to be there supporting you 100%! I wish you were here to go through college with me, but I know that you are where you’re supposed to be. I have faith in you that you will do the best you can and complete whatever is thrown at you with all you can.

You’re a great friend and I am glad we are close. Thank you for being you and accepting me for who I am. I love you, Liv!

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
