5 Pieces of Advice for Long Distance Relationships

Long Distance Relationships are always seen by others as a stress-enduced thing. Here are some ways to eleviate the stress and have a happy and healthy relationship!

  1. Always Communicate
  • There are a lot of obstacles in an LDR. Having a good source of communication maintains the strength of your relationship. Video chatting is a great way to talk to your significant other. Skype, Facetime and Facebook Messenger are a few of many apps that will keep your communication skills on key. 2. Share your Passions
  • It’s always a great thing when someone has the same passions as you. Opening yourself up and sharing things you love with people who are important to you makes you feel connected on a deeper level. If you never ask, you will never know!

3. Send Some Love

  • Mail from your significant other is an amazing feeling. Sending sweatshirts with your scent on them is really romantic, and they won’t miss you every night because you will be right there with them. Sending letters seems old-fashioned, but it’s super adorable. Like as adorable as a puppy..

4. Let them know about what you’re doing.

  • You don’t have to necessarily tell them at each moment of the day, but a few updates keeps your partner feeling involved and loved. Send them pictures of your surroundings. Text them about exciting things. Involve them in your life.

5. Love knows no bounds.

When you find the right person, distance doesn’t matter. Even through the distance, there is still love and happiness. Once you share that with the perfect person, you will be set for life.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
