What Has The World Come To When Terrorism Is The Norm?

We need to stop putting these incidents in the back of our mind, we need to stop only acknowledging them for a few moments, to only move on and care about what your best friend just posted on Instagram.

What Has The World Come To When Terrorism Is The Norm?

I sit here and wonder what our world has come to. Within the past two weeks, Great Britain alone has experienced two terrorist attacks on their countries soil. These two terrorist attacks killed innocent people, from little children to adults, people that didn't deserve to die.

Does anyone think about that?

We can all tweet about how sad it is, or share an article on Facebook, but do you really spend more than those 60 seconds really acknowledging of what had happened?

Do you really think about those children who spent months overly excited to see Arianna Grande in concert, to not come home later that night? Or what about those people that just wanted to walk across the London Bridge with their best friend reminiscing about the years that have past before them, to not fully make it across?

Something is wrong, many of you can say there's no such thing as terrorism, but these are just two of the many acts of terrorism that have taken place within 2017.

Something needs to be done, why are we allowing individuals/groups of individuals to believe in their right mind it's ok to kill innocent people. Why do we allow it to keep happening?

Yes, understandably, it's hard to stop all the people that are considered terrorists, and the people that haven't done their act of terrorism yet. We can't fully prevent it, but something needs to be done to at least help prevent more of these horrific incidents from happening again.

We need to stop putting these incidents in the back of our mind, we need to stop only acknowledging them for a few moments, to only move on and care about what your best friend just posted on Instagram.

We need to realize that these incidents are going to keep happening, especially if we act like everything is fine.

NOTHING is fine.

Ask the mother who regrets buying her eight-year-old daughter tickets to see that show.

Ask the girl that never dreamed of losing her sister, especially when she said she was going for a walk with her best friend.

Ask everyone who has lost someone they loved because of these barbaric acts.

These acts aren't going to stop, because if they did they would've stopped with the first few we had in the beginning of the year, within other countries.

Something has to be done, innocent lives have to stop being taken, and terrorists need to not only stop doing these acts, but we need to stop thinking they're okay.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
