Why Local Coffee Shops Are Just Better
PRWEB

Recently one of my favorite coffee shops had to close down because of hail damage, luckily for the city of Wylie, Texas, a new coffee shop opened up just down the road from there. I've been going to Starbucks for years, but nothing can compare to a local coffee shop and here are a few reasons why.

1. The atmosphere

Local coffee shops tend to have cool decorations or a more comfortable feel. They can have different colored walls, comfortable chairs, televisions, and just all around a cool vibe that's easy to focus and relax in.

2. No pressure

I don't feel bad if I'm just sitting in a chair on Facebook looking at cat pictures because I don't feel pressured to give up my seat to someone needing to work. I also hate the feeling my conversation is annoying somebody else and local coffee shops tend to offer an environment that is more comfortable for conversation.

3 . Friendly staff

I don't know about you, but I love the feeling of walking in and talking to a nice barista. It's an even better feeling once you become a regular and they practically know your order when you walk in.

4. Variety of drinks

Usually when I walk into a local coffee shop they tend to have a house special or something they created on their own they are proud of. They have more options and different recipes for some of the most popular drinks.

5. T-shirts

I know this may not apply to all coffee shops, but I love when I can buy a T-shirt and can rep my favorite place. It allows me to talk up the shop and get other people hooked on their goodness.

6. Higher quality

Most local coffee shops I've been to have a standard for what they can serve in terms of quality. For example, Conversations in Wylie uses beans straight from the farm to the brewer.

So wherever you are, stop at a local coffee shop and try a little piece of their heritage. You can tell a lot by a town by their coffee shops.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.

Your Friend Group, As Told By Disney Princesses

Each Disney Princess has their own personality, and chances are you've got a friend in your group to match it.

The dynamics of any friend group are usually determined by the personalities which make it up. Chances are, while personalities may overlap, each person in your friend group holds his or her own place. It is the differences which bring the groups together and keep them functioning. No matter how functionally dysfunctional your friend group may be, if you're anything like me, you feel absolutely blessed to have found such a wonderful group of humans to call "your people." Here is what your friend group might look like if they were Disney princesses (and that wasn't just a thing you all pretended in your heads):
