Ever wanted to support your local music scene but don't know where to start? Fear not, I've compiled a list of five of the best up-and-coming bands from the Cleveland area that you'll want to add to your playlist as soon as possible!

Check out five of Cleveland's best up-and-comers below!

1. Dark Spring

Dark Spring is one of Cleveland's best kept hidden secrets. The post-hardcore punks have made quite a name for themselves after the release of their debut album, "Chain Letter 13," and they don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

2. Old Souls

Old Souls might not be as well known as some of the band's on this list, but don't let that deter you from checking these guys out. The band recently released their new album "Hey, How Are You," and it might be one of the best punk releases I've heard this year.

3. The Grievance Club

The Grievance Club is a melodic punk band from Kent, Ohio. The band has been around for quite some time, and they've really perfected their craft. Recently, the group gave fans a taste of some new music with a five-song EP called "Hive," and just know you'll have no grievances when it comes to checking them out (I am so sorry, oh my God.)

4. The Sonder Bombs

Who knew a Ukulele and punk music could go so well together?

The Sonder Bombs are probably one of the most unique bands on the list. With songs that are driven by a ukulele, they have flawlessly blended the sounds of pop-punk with the beachy vibes from the ukulele to create this interesting new genre. They've recently signed to Take This To Heart records and they've dropped their debut, "Modern Female Rockstar," from the label a few weeks ago.

5. Biitchseat

Biitchseat is still fairly new to the Cleveland music scene, having only formed in 2017, but that doesn't mean they haven't made their mark. Biitchseat made waves earlier this year when the group decided to drop their debut EP "Grow Up," less than a year after their formation...and we're still shook about it.

What band was your favorite? Let me know!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
