Does True Love Even Exist If Liza Koshy And David Dobrik Can't Make It?

"Say you're going to spread mayonnaise when you only have mustard." -Liza Koshy

SPOILER ALERT!! If you have not watched Liza Koshy and David Dobrik's #1 trending YouTube video on David's channel, you can check it out by clicking HERE.

If you don't know who this iconic Youtube power couple is or was let me get you to speed. Liza Koshy A.K.A. Little Brown Girl has been on the YouTube scene for around two years. You may remember her from that one retired app, Vines. On YouTube, she has her fans laughing throughout her whole video full of puns.

One of the very first videos I remember watching them as a couple was when Liza ran into the store to buy David some flowers for their date. While in the store, she ran into none other than David himself who was also buying flowers for their date! All of their fans' hearts (including my own) melted as the story began.

They were together two years!

I know things are different behind closed doors, and people act a lot while on camera to avoid getting too personal. But with those two, you could just look at their pictures and tell that they were deeply in love.

So imagine the shock felt not only me but also by all of their other fans when David posted his video titled "We Broke Up."

I laughed it off when I first saw it. Yes, there have been rumors, but they also have a lot of clickbait titles.

As soon as I clicked on the video, I was in tears. It started off with them making jokes about being single and breaking up. But at minute 1:12 of the video, they pause, and David adds text to say that they had to take a break and then another that says "2 hours later."

With Liza back on the screen, you can clearly see she has been crying. That is when I cried--these two created this illusion that true love does exist. They made it seem like no matter how rich or famous you become, if you are meant to be with that person, it will be like that.

After watching their video, I realized that is just not how it works.

At the beginning of the video, David says, "It wasn't healthy for us to continue to be together...for now."

Questions, lots of questions. Why not? What wasn't healthy? Was he hurting her? Who ended it? Is it over forever?

To answer the question as to why they broke up, David says, "Liza broke up with me because she felt like we've been too busy," which I at first thought was kind of crappy of her. But Liza came back with that it was like they were living "two separate lives," and being in a long-term relationship while living separate lives is tough, so it made a lot more sense.

Even in tears and being young, she said some very wise words: "We're so young. We're so young."

The same thing our parents tell us when we dive headfirst into a relationship. But it made sense; they are young, and they still have so much room to grow and develop. By trying to force a relationship that just wasn't there, they would only add to the stress.

Liza had always hinted that things were rough sometimes, but with all her jokes and laughs, it was hard to see what really lay beneath the surface.

In the video, Liza said, "I really want to spread love, but I have to have it first. You know?" I feel like a lot of people can relate to this statement. If you don't love yourself, it is so hard to love someone else or take in that they love you back. She compared this to saying "you're going to spread mayonnaise when you only have mustard."

In the back of my mind, I am waiting for David to blame her or even say something mean. But the whole video, all he has to say are jokes and supporting comments. One of my favorites is when he says, "I always say this to people: I know online-Liza seems like she's a really nice girl. But if you get to know her, it's the exact same thing. Like there's not a bad bone in her body."

They waited three months to tell friends and family that they had broken up and six months to reveal the truth to their fans. Their relationship was so different from any other YouTuber relationship I have ever seen before.

You could tell throughout the video that was the hardest thing that they had done together. Their tears were very real, and no matter how many times I waited for them to say, "JUST KIDDING," but they never did.

They did end on a positive note and are clearly working toward their careers and not trying to force anything. They are taking baby steps, basically, and if they do find their way back together in the future, that would be great. But what would be best is making sure that they are happy.

I have already seen a lot of negative stuff saying they didn't HAVE to post that video, that they were just doing it for attention. That's not true; their fans love them and watching them together, and if they just suddenly stopped, it would have been a lot of questions.

Besides, they have always been open since day one, so why would they not address their break up and what their fans can expect in the future?

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
