Symptoms may include exhaustion, crying fits, excessive sleeping, stress, and insanity. Please advise that chronic college syndrome (CCS) is diagnosed once you have arrived at college and are at least three weeks into your classes. If you believe you have CCS please read the following list to determine if your symptoms match.

1. You spend more time laying in bed thinking about doing homework than actually doing homework.

2. You miss class to do the homework due for the next class but then miss homework for that class.

3. Class starts at 8 and your alarm is set for 7:40.

4. When your teacher gives you an assignment, the first question is “When is this due?”

5. Your friends only see you when they come over to study.

6. Your Netflix asks if you would like to continue watching.

7. Your Netflix is filled with unfinished T.V. series.

8. You have Netflix pulled up on your TV to motivate the 10 page paper due in an hour that you have barely touched.

9. A hot date included you, a hot pocket, and 3 different assignments that you’ve ignored for days.

10. Your text messages are all about class and assignments.

11. You count down the number of hours you have before you can sleep again.

12. You have alarms set every 2 minutes but snooze every single one and wonder why you are never on time for class.

13. When class gets out early, it feels like Christmas.

14. When the professor gives extra credit, you cry.

15. When you seriously consider becoming a stripper instead.

If you display any of these symptoms please take a look at your bank account. If your bank account depresses you, you officially have chronic college syndrome. Symptoms may improve during breaks of time away from college. If symptoms worsen, crying may be the only option.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
