So, you finally took the plunge. You're making labels in Sharpie and stuffing childhood toys that you just can't part with into cardboard boxes. You're moving in with your boyfriend. It's an exciting experience that marks the next step in your relationship. You get to wake up next to each other every morning, talk about your day over dinners that you cooked together at night, and decorate your house or apartment to look like it should be on HGTV. What's not to like? Girls, moving in with a significant other is a huge step. It's sharing a living space with someone that you love romantically. So much so, in fact, that you don't think you could possibly be annoyed by him or his bad habits, right? Wrong.

Here are a few things you should know as you take that step. I'll tell you now, so you're prepared later. You're welcome.

There will be dirty clothes everywhere

Bathroom? Work clothes. Living room? Jackets and discarded jeans. Kitchen? Everything else for some reason, because putting dirty clothes in a dirty clothes basket is too much.

Drinking out of the carton will be normalized

Milk, juice, you name it. Cups are not a thing.

Things will be messy

Things that you never thought could be dirty or untidy before will be so obviously unkept once you move in. You'll be amazed, and grossed out, all while having the urge to clean it.

The boys will be over a lot

Gym "dates," video games, and everything in between. Get used to seeing the boys a lot.

You won't be as snuggly as you hoped

1. You will get way too hot and 2. there will be nights where you are praying for personal space. Sorry, sharing a bed is different when you live together.

The move in process will test your patience

You'll start your day all excited for this new experience, but by the end of it you will absolutely want to kill each other.

Leftovers are a food group

Did somebody say cold pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

Boys are gross, simple as that

You may be so in love with your boyfriend that you can't see straight. Live together for a few months, however, and you'll realize your beloved boyfriend is just a disgusting boy.

Be prepared for the sniff test on all of his laundry

It is ingrained in his being as a man. If a piece of laundry sniffs clean, it is clean. Try to hide your disgust.

You might not see each other as often as you'd like to

Between your busy schedule and his, the only time you may be together is at the end of the day. It won't be this picture-perfect time where you are together 24/7.

You will need space, and that's okay

Despite your busy schedule, you may feel overwhelmed with him at times. That's okay, and you are entitled to those feelings. Those are normal. Trust me.

 You will fight

It might happen a lot, it might be rare, but whatever the case, it will happen. Being in such close proximity for the first time in your lives will absolutely get on your nerves. So, you will bicker. The important thing is that you talk it out and move past it.

Despite everything you go through together, you will be so happy you decided to move in

Despite all of the little nuances that go along with living with him, you wouldn't trade it for the world.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone does not try to help their self before asking others. How can someone else be expected to help you if you do not first do that yourself? I'm all about helping those that need it when the time comes, however whenever someone does not even attempt to help him or herself first then that becomes a huge problem. As we all have learned, people tend to take advantage of us in one way or another. I am sure we all read this short story when we were younger and it follows that same principle:
