What It's Like Living With A Science Major
Lillian van Wyngaarden

One of the great things about college is that you are finally free to study and take classes in the subjects that actually interest you. For some, this leads them to subjects under the science field, the business field, the arts field and so many more. As you enter college, people tend to click and room with those studying in the same field, but this is not always the case. As someone who would classify their studies under the art field, it can sometimes be interesting to room with someone in the science field. Whether you came from the arts of science field, here are some things you are sure to experience when living with a science major.

1. Proofreading their papers

Since science majors may not write a paper a day like some arts majors, they definitely look to you for some proofreading expertise. Even though I normally have no idea what in the world I'm reading when I do proofread science papers, at least I know where the commas go.

2. Avoid ambiguous topics

Science majors like definite answers. I found that bringing up topics from class that can be interpreted multiple different ways is something that does not always sit well with them. They like x + y = z and arts majors sometimes like not having an answer. So tread carefully with ambiguous topics.

3. You'll learn the most random scientific facts

Did I truly need to know that Barred owl's stomach feathers can turn pink if they eat too much shrimp? Probably not. But I know it now, so at least I have something to bring to the lunch table I guess.

4. Get used to hearing science jargon

I honestly don't think I can count the amount of times I've heard my roommate say something like, "Look! I made the nomenclature of tertbutyldecane!" as she excitedly pointed to some sort of hieroglyphic in her notebook. Because of this, I can honestly say I don't understand half of my conversations with my own roommate.

5. Do not complain about the price of textbooks

I don't like dropping a lot of money on textbooks I'm only going to read for a semester just as much as anyone, but I can confidently say that my most expensive textbook this semester was only half the price of one of my roommates textbooks. So I just keep the price tags to myself.

6. Whatever major you both have, it is hard

Do not try to compete in contests to see which one of you has the "hardest" major. All majors are hard. It is college. Literally everything in college is hard. Just support each other and try to make it through college together.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
