As many could assume, living in Ohio is nothing special. We don't have lavish beaches or encounter celebrities on a daily basis. We are a happily normal state ... most of the time. For three years, Ohioans have it easy; we wake up and go about our ordinary lives. But lately, things have been a bit different in the Buckeye State. We still wake up and begin our morning routines, but they are usually interrupted by hundreds of commercials and advertisements for the election this November.
Ahh, there is the loophole.
Living in Ohio is just fine and dandy three out of four years. But once a potential new president is in the horizon, our state gets stampeded with the most advertisements and becomes so overpowering that we barely have time to think about anything else. You see, Ohio is one of the biggest swing states since the amount of Democrats and Republicans are almost equal. On top of that, we also have one of the highest amounts of electoral votes in the country so, with these two factors combined, whoever wins Ohio has a very good chance of making it to the White House. With the primary elections coming up this Tuesday, we have been bombarded with phone calls, emails, commercials, newspaper ads, and, of course, every single candidate has toured all the major cities and given their best speeches to their fans (and protestors). At this point, I am so tired of hearing any of the candidates speak that I just want to fast forward to November to get this all over with.
On a daily basis, these are some of my thoughts (and I'm sure many other Ohioans as well).
1. Really, again?
2. We get it.
3. A woman? No way!
4. Weren't your views completely different last week?
5. Please shut up.
Hopefully when the primary elections come to an end this week, Ohio's publicity will be on the DL for a bit. Until the Republican Convention this summer, that is...
