Life is tough. No sugar coating, no beating around the bush, no messing around. We all have those days where we wish that we could throw in the towel and call it quits. I know I sure do. Some days I just wonder, “What’s the point?"
A movie I recently saw took a handful of reality and smacked me in the face with it. If you haven’t seen “Miracles from Heaven,” I recommend you do. So you have an idea of what I’m talking about, “Miracles from Heaven” is a movie based on true events that took place during the sickness and healing of a young girl named Anna Beam. After Anna had regained her health, her mother went before her congregation at church and said something that I believe everyone needs to hear. She quoted Albert Einstein and said, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
Those 26 words were eye-opening to me. We sometimes get so caught up in our own struggles that we forget about the good that is in our lives. It’s easy to get discouraged after getting a bad grade on a test, the end of a relationship, a sickness, an injury, or really just a bad day in general. But we must learn that with the good, comes the bad. We cannot appreciate the good things in our life if we aren’t put to the test with struggles. We have got to learn to appreciate the little things because they’re not actually so little.
I reevaluated myself and the way I had been looking at life lately, and I am not ashamed to say that I have been living like nothing is a miracle. I have been letting life get the best of me, and that is no way to live.
I encourage you to take a moment and think about the way you live, then I want you to tell yourself that you are going to live like everyday is a miracle. I’m not saying that every day will be easy because that is definitely not the way life works, but try and find the good in everyday. Be grateful for the little things that we don’t often think of as miracles. If you live with a pessimistic view on everything, then you will be living life as though nothing is a miracle. Wake up telling yourself that it will be a good day, because it can be if you let it. Don’t let the hardships of everyday life stop you from living like you have a purpose. Whatever struggle you are facing is nothing compared to the joy that will come from it.
Whenever you feel yourself getting discouraged, just tell yourself that everything is going to be okay. Tell yourself that today, there will be a miracle.
