Living Life In The Moment

Don't wait for things to pass to enjoy your life.

Living Life In The Moment
Quotes Y

"Once this is over, I'll be able to enjoy myself." - everyone at some point in their life.

Every single person has fallen into the trap of waiting for that one thing to pass in order to "enjoy" themselves. But, by the time you know it, another task or obstacle has come your way that you, again, have to overcome. We are faced with the constant need to complete things at the speed of light, be involved in everything and anything that exists, while at the same time having the opportunity to enjoy ourselves. Well, the real question is, how? How can we possibly enjoy ourselves if the first thought that comes to mind is how quickly and effectively can we complete something in order to enjoy ourselves in the long run?

We come to this wall where once we think we are done with one thing, really another appears for us to deal with. So, something that you once looked forward to doing after a task or obstacle is completed, has no time allotted in your schedule.

Not to be entirely dramatic, but it is really a tragic thing to experience. After finally completing a huge paper all you want to do is relax, or in my case, play the piano or even something as simple as hanging out with people you have not seen in ages because something always comes up. Well to your dismay, you have no time to spend doing the things that you enjoy doing, and why is that you ask? Because you come to the realization that you have yet another task that needs completion.

I conclude this essentially by saying one thing that may seem contradictory to all the things that I've said up to this point but bear with me:

MAKE. THE. TIME.

I've talked about how we all have no time to do anything we really want to do because we have everything and anything you can think of to complete but are you really happy doing that? Is it enjoyable to just complete monotonous tasks? Of course not! We need to spend time doing the things that we are involved in but there has to be a point where we live the lives we've built for ourselves. Do not expect that at some point things will just drop off and suddenly you will have all the time in the world to do what you enjoy doing.

We make friendships for a reason. We fall in love with hobbies for a reason. We relax for a reason. If we did not enjoy doing these things we would not do them in the first place. So, make the time doing what you love to do because one day you'll be sitting in your room when your 70 and saying, "Wow I could've done that but never had the time."

Enjoy your life and don't just let things pass you by as you continue to walk the path that is the journey of life.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
