If I had a dollar for every time someone said, “You really are blonde…” or “Sorry she’s a blonde” after I say something I could pay for a fraction of my tuition. Well, guess what, I am in fact blonde. Great observational skills. My hair color does not deem me as some illiterate, naïve, party all the time, unintelligent, “Bottle blonde,” weak, materialistic, egotistical woman. So, let this educate those who believe the blonde stereotypes, and to my fellow blondes, this one is for you.
1) Do NOT use my hair color as some cheesy pick-up line.
This does not impress us nor make sense. Quite frankly it makes us not want to talk to you at all because you have made it known that you believe these blonde stereotypes.
2)Are you having a blonde moment?
Nope.
3) She's blonde, she likes to party!
Yes, I like to socialize and hang out with friends. Who doesn’t? By no means am I this superstitious blonde girl with no responsibilities. You can actually find me studying, working, and home with my family on the weekends.
4) We are strong.
Blondes are tired of coming off as weak girls who don’t want to chip a nail. We are strong willed, determined people with goals.
5) Do not apologize for our hair color.
Every single person makes mistakes or may not comprehend new things at first. Blondes are no exception to this rule. So when explaining or talking to us do not assume that we won’t understand.
6) Don't assume we are unintelligent.
Enough said.
Yeah, its fun to make jokes, but keep it to a minimum because they get old. As a blonde myself, I have experienced these stereotypes many times. The media does a great deal in encouraging these stereotypes as well. Many roles played by blondes in movies are portrayed as naive, with the exception of Legally Blonde. That movie is a classic for our blonde culture. I hope this gives all a good laugh, and to my blondes keep loving life!
