"Meredith Grey has survived a drowning, a gunman, and a plane crash. She's not going to die today. She is going to die when she is 90."

If you’ve watched "Grey’s Anatomy" as much as I have then you know Meredith Grey is a character with nine lives. Her frequent near death experiences leave you asking, “How is that possible?” “Really, Meredith? Again?” “Can’t she have good luck just one time?”

You can spend an entire episode convincing yourself that Shonda wouldn’t kill her off like that. You’ll scream and cry and have to remind yourself that it is only a television show. With that being said, here are some of Meredith’s most memorable near death experiences that were sure to have you screaming and crying.

1. The time she decided to stick her hand in a bazooka.

This is the first near death experience we have with Meredith. We are on the edge of our seats as Meredith holds onto a bazooka inside a body cavity that could explode with even the slightest of movement. When she is slowly maneuvering the bazooka out of the body into the bomb squad’s hands you find yourself biting your nails.

Then just when you think she is safe, Meredith decides to follow behind the bomb squad and watches as the bazooka blows up. She ends up being okay and finally you can relax and be happy.

Well, unless you are a "Friday Night Lights" fan because now you’re sad that Coach Taylor just died from a bazooka. Anyway, just like that Meredith uses one of her nine lives.

2. The time she decided to drown herself.

We all remember the scene in season three when Meredith falls into the water and decides not to save herself. We are sitting there screaming “Swim Meredith! Just swim.” “No way, she isn’t going to die like this! C’mon Shonda!”

Then, all of sudden, it is McDreamy to the rescue and you spend the rest of the episode hoping the doctor’s will save her. Of course, they do, it’s Meredith after all. Life number two is gone.

3. The time she offered herself up to a gunman.

This episode was a tear-jerker for sure. As Derek lays there dying, while Meredith begs the gunman to shoot her, you don’t know what to feel.

You find yourself sad, angry, and overall frustrated. Your heart breaks just a little more when you witness Meredith miscarry from the stress. This time, it is Doctor Avery to the rescue and once again Meredith makes it out alive. Near death experience number three? Check!

4. The time her plane crashed.

The worst couple of episodes in all of Grey’s Anatomy happened when Meredith’s plane crashes. These are the episodes you find yourself hating Shonda and wondering why bad things always have to happen to this poor woman.

Derek severely injures his hand, Arizona loses her leg, McSteamy and Lexi both die and Meredith? She's perfectly okay obviously! All she did was use another one of her nine lives. Four down five to go.

5. The time she gave birth in the middle of a power outage.

It’s the end of season nine and things are finally looking up for Meredith. She recovered from the plane crash and is now pregnant. The pregnancy is going well, but of course, it can’t stay like that. This is Meredith Grey we are talking about after all. When the power goes out because of a major storm, Meredith decides that is the perfect time to go into labor.

In the middle of this power outage, Meredith successfully delivers her baby. However, when an intern is left to close her up following the C-Section, complications obviously arise. In the end, Doctor Bailey comes in to save the day and once again Meredith survives the impossible. Life number five…check!

6. The time she almost dies again during childbirth

Who can forget the time Zola had to call 911 for her mother who was lying in a pool of blood? In this episode, Meredith experiences pregnancy complications and has to be taken away in an ambulance.

The episode flashes back when little Meredith had to do the same for her mother, Ellis, after a suicide attempt. I know we all sat there thinking, “Really Shonda, can she ever just have a normal pregnancy?”

In the end, Meredith ends up being okay and ironically names her child Ellis.

7. The time she got beaten up by a patient

New season, new near death experience. On the spring premiere of "Grey’s Anatomy," we witness Meredith get attacked by a patient, following complications to a seizure he experienced.

We were all cringing and screaming as we watched the patient slam Meredith up against the wall time and time again. She was beaten badly and in the hospital for weeks. This is by far the worst near death experience she has ever suffered from and yet she is still alive to tell you all about it.

Throughout every season, Meredith always faces some type of adversity, but these seven situations are the most noteworthy. With only two lives left it will be interesting to see how Shonda uses them and I can promise you, she will use them.

She wouldn’t be Meredith Grey if she didn’t almost die on a regular basis. With two lives left, that means more tears, more screaming, and more questioning Shonda’s decisions. One thing is for sure, Meredith Grey is definitely running out of lives!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
