You are the pilot of your life, make sure you’re taking control because someone else can take that away very easily. There are many people who will take advantage of your lack of control and use you or tell you what to do with your life. I’m not just talking about your boss who tells you what to do at work, I’m also talking about your friends, siblings, parents, relatives, and other people you know. Whether you realize it or not, they also have some impact on your life. I’m not saying that you have to alienate yourself from them, that’s a totally different thing. What I’m trying to say is that sometimes people may tell you that you should live your life a certain way because they think that’s what’s best for you. The only person who knows what’s best for you is YOU. If you don’t like something, don’t do it. If you don’t like someone, don’t hang around them just because your friend does. Your friend may get along with them, but not you. You won’t get along with everybody and that’s just a simple fact. Pleasing everyone is impossible and will only make you miserable.

Society and the media is always trying to tell us what to do like what your body should look like, your makeup, your hair, your height, your appearance and so on. In reality, what do they know about you? Who are they to tell you what to do? Everyone is different and unique in their own way. We can’t all look the same because that would be a boring world without any variety of human beings. We can’t let these outsiders tell us how we should look, if we love ourselves then f*** them! You don’t have to be skinny or attractive or tall to be confident, anyone can love themselves. Loving yourself is a very important love to have in life especially in today’s society that’s always trying to lower self-esteems. I’m actually really glad that all these plus-size models are being used for ads because now there will be more real representation. They shouldn’t even be called “plus-size” models because that puts them in a certain category, just call them beauty models because that’s what they really are. They’re just showing true beauty in its several forms.

In a society that profits from your self-doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act. If liking yourself is a rebellious act, then why don’t we all be rebels? Being yourself is one of the realest things you can do in life because that’s what makes you, you. We all have different personalities, humor, likes and dislikes. Why should we have to hide it? It’s what makes us unique and stand out from the crowd. We have to embrace ourselves and stop putting on a facade every day. Not everyone is going to like it, but the right ones will. When you’re not being yourself, you’re not happy. Being happy should be your ultimate goal in life. Do what you makes you happy despite what others think because it’s your life and not theirs.

We all have goals and dreams in life that we wish to achieve whether it’s traveling the world, owning a business, buying a house, becoming famous, become president of a country, become an artist, a writer or whatever it may be. Many of us may see these dreams as impossible or give up too easily because the road is too difficult in the beginning. You can’t stop when you haven’t even taken the first step! Here’s a reality check for you, life isn’t easy! If you want something, GO FOR IT! Don't let anybody stop you from achieving happiness in your life because at the end of the day, you only have one life to live might as well make the best of it. If you can dream it, you can achieve it. Remember one thing, the only limit is the one you set yourself. The minute you stop trying is the minute you stop believing in yourself. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you don’t deserve what you want EVER. Misery loves company and you don’t want to be that company, trust me.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
