You hear it all the time: "you only get one life," "live in the now," "don't take this day for granted."People say it with good intentions, with the purpose of getting you to realize that life is a precious gift. Sure, sometimes you might think about how short life is in the grand scheme of things, and evaluate your lifestyle choices. But going day to day living each moment like it's your last is much more difficult than it sounds, and typically people forget about it and get caught up worrying about work or school or family or anything else. Although those things are important and sometimes even worth worrying over, we must be careful about how much time we give to our worries, because we could end up with a lot of wasted time on your hands.

Reality check: you could die at any moment.

Depending on your beliefs and perspectives on life, death can be a difficult concept to understand and accept, but it happens. Every day. Maybe you don't want to think about it, and that's fine. But the truth is that life could be taken from you at any moment, and you will be forced to come to terms with whatever you have done or failed to do during your small chapter on this Earth. If you can look back on your life leading up to this point right now and not have a single regret on things you should or should not have done, then by all means, you are doing something right. But a lot of people feel the opposite, where they look back and only see themselves missing an opportunity, or not making a wrong right again, or feeling unsatisfied by the way things would potentially end for them at this moment.

Let me ask you this: what are you waiting for?

Yes, you should still be preparing for a long an happy future, and doing whatever it takes to achieve your goals and the future you're envisioning. But do you realize that you can accomplish and plan on your own terms? That means whatever you feel like you're missing out on and want to do, you can do it while still preparing for your future. That means whatever wrongs you have left behind in your life, you can go back and make them right while still working towards your goals. That means the unsatisfied feeling you get when looking back on your life up to this point can be reformed into a feeling of satisfaction by changing the way you do life from here on out.

So do it. Do whatever it is you have always wanted to do. Go after your dreams, settle all feelings of regret, and live each day like it's your last day on this beautiful planet we call home. Be spontaneous, be adventurous, be you. As they say, you only get one life. This is it. After this, who knows? Live while you can, don't just exist. Don't let the stress of life get in your way. Don't let anyone stop you--not your family, not doubt, not yourself. Go. Do. Be. Find your happiness, because this may be your last chance to do so. We don't know what tomorrow will hold, so make today a day you won't ever want to forget.

This is your reminder to take chances, live life to the fullest, and don't take anything for granted. Remember this the next time you want to do something, but instead give excuses as to why you can't. Live now, think later. Time is running out; be ready.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
