How to live the laptop lifestyle

The Laptop lifestyle has been the trend since 2007 when Tim Ferriss launched his book called "The 4 House Work Week". To this date, entrepreneurs all over the world have been using this method of working. His book taught us that being stuck to a desk is not how you should continue working in the future. The Laptop lifestyle just requires you to own a laptop, phone and a stable internet connection for you to generate income. If you can do your work from anywhere- be it entrepreneurship or freelancing, you fit in the lifestyle well.

But you need to keep some things in mind when you are wishing to adopt this lifestyle:

1. Leverage Technology

Nowadays, it is witnessed clearly how much the technology has advanced. It has thus affected the working ability of the people to work from anywhere in the world. If you lean on technology, it will keep you organized at all times, automate your tasks, track your time and help in communicating with clients. You can find a lot of apps and software in the market that are responsible for making your life easy and very well-organized. You must learn a way to make optimum use of the technology to be able to work from anywhere.

2. Choose a Niche Comfortable with remote work

This lifestyle requires you to work in a field which does not demand much of your physical presence. So you need to make sure to find a job that hires people who are remote. You just have to be comfortable with the work as more and more jobs are coming which are not affected by the location of the candidate. So, just search for a job or find clients that are comfortable in this type of working relationship.

3. Clarity in communication

When you wish to adopt this lifestyle, it is necessary that your communication skills are on point. Your skills come from the energy you exhibit, tone, your body language and the way you express yourself. If your communication is not clear, you will not be able to interact with your clients properly which would result in losses for you.You need to leverage the technology to clear your communication. Use apps like Skype or Facetime for video calls, Google docs to create files or Loom app to capture simple scree recordings.

4. Keep Selling

The important aspect of this lifestyle is that you need to sell constantly because you are your own boss. You can never stop selling or it will kill your business and someone else will overtake you. This is applicable even to people who work remotely because they need to sell themselves to their boss into hiring them. You need to continue to build your network and try in getting more and more clients. If you can't get new clients due to loads of work, just keep on selling yourself to the existing clients.

Conclusion:

The laptop lifestyle has been in fashion since 2007 as it benefits people in a lot of ways. You just need to have adequate resources and boom, you can enjoy this lifestyle too. You just need to follow the golden rules mentioned in the article.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
