We all want to have the best experiences possible, having a great time with amazing people. We strive to look for different ways of life, trying to understand which one or combination works best for us. The only way to truly live a full life is through social interactions. There are infinite stories that we have yet to hear to experience ourselves, and with the right people, these adventures only get better. So living in a world where there is no way of getting around people, here are some helpful tools to make life more interesting.

1. Compliment people

This may seem simple, but we often forget how little we actually do this for each other. The crucial part to these interactions is how each person makes the other feel. Words do mean little, but feelings go so much farther. The right compliments can leave a huge impression on others, make them feel better about themselves, and grant you a new friend.

2. Take interest in others

Listening is huge. It is one thing to dish out compliments right and left, but listening will make the conversations so much better. Besides learning a little about your friend, you can respond to them much easier and with better advice. Don’t have one-way conversations.

3. Be open

OK, guys, I know this sounds “girly,” but it seriously helps. Besides helping your game, this makes for a stronger emotional connection between people. Once this connections becomes stronger, people will empathize and want to help you more in the future. Although this can be difficult at first, being open is an extremely helpful and powerful tool that can change your life.

4. Accept compliments

This one is always the hardest for me. However, accepting compliments shows appreciation and gratitude towards the other. It is a mutual kindling of seeing the good things in each other. Giving does feel better than receiving, yet it does feel great to receive a compliment on occasion. So be thankful!

5. Stop being negative

From gossiping to calling people names, the list doesn’t stop on how we can be negative. Although it’s easy to be negative at times, stay upbeat. It just takes one good deed at a time to feel better. So, why be mad when you can be glad?

People are around every corner. From day until night, we interact with people endlessly. Learning how to interact with people is a crucial and helpful skill. Make life easier and follow these steps.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
