It's now March, which means Valentine's Day has just passed, and not only were happy couples celebrating and appreciating their lives, but many young, single people were sulking in their own misery. For some, it gave us time to reflect.
If you're single — especially newly single — don't sit around and sulk in your misery. Do not think about how 'great' it would be if you had a significant other. Love yourself.
Get out there and start to realize just how great it can be without a significant other. You're young — be happy and enjoy this time in your life when you're not tied down. Not everyone is so lucky to live their young life without somebody else to worry about.
Many young people can't live without relationships or they get married young; they're never free, living their own life. But that's not how it should be or how it has to be. If you're single, bask in it; enjoy it.
Live your life for you. This is the time where you can get all dressed up just to go out with your friends; the time where you lay in bed and watch Netflix all day because that's what you want to do – because you want a lazy day with no responsibilities.
Living the single life isn't supposed to be a drag. It's supposed to be about you. So, make it about you. Better yourself, do the things you love and cherish your time alone – that is what you should be doing while you're single. You shouldn't be focusing on finding someone new — even if you do end up finding someone new.
You see, finding somebody new to share your life with is a wonderful thing. It's exciting and fun, but it shouldn't be your focus. Your focus should be finding yourself and loving yourself. You must do this before you can ever love someone else. You don't have to love yourself in order to love someone else, but it should be a goal to work on while you are single.
So if you're single, just be single. You don't have to be searching for your next love or even your next hookup.
Just search for yourself. Love yourself. Care about yourself.
