You’ve probably heard or seen the phrase “Live, Love, Laugh” and other similar words before. But did you ever think that these are words full of theological wisdoms that encourage you to live in the light of Christ and be thankful for your life?
Live in the present.
“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. ‘Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.’” Matthew 6:31-34
Today is just as it should be; so don’t wish it away with worry of the future or regrets of the past. Your sins are forgiven and today is a gift from God. Trust that God will provide for tomorrow and be thankful for today. Do not stress about the future whether that is related to school, finances, or personal issues, rest in God’s unwavering truths.
Love without conditions.
“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James 2:14-17
“In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:10-11
Love others in the way that Christ has loved us because it is from Him that we know how to love. Respect others, forgive those who don’t ask for it, and treat others as you would like to be treated. You don’t love others because it makes it makes you look “good” in the sight of God (because we are not good aside from Christ) but love because you want to humbly serve those around you by following the example of Christ.
Laugh and enjoy life’s blessings.
“Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’” Psalm 126:2
“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting.” Job 8:21
We have freedom and life everlasting in Christ, now that is something to be truly happy about. Find joy in Christ and in the way that He loves you, provides for you, cares for you, and plans for you. Life is a blessing and an opportunity to bring Him glory- and you can do that through laughing.
Perspective check: “To live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21
