Living healthy can be hard, especially when trying to switch your life around. It requires a lifestyle change and commitment since most steps don't just happen over night. One of the most important things to keep in mind when adjusting your life is that it's all about your mindset. Here are a small list of steps that you can take today in order to push yourself in the right direction and to continue to do so in the future.

1. Set goals for yourself.

They don't always have to be big goals, either. Sometimes taking one day at a time is the best thing to do in order to see the changes within yourself that you want. Whether it's trying to lose weight or attempting to exercise more frequently, think of something you want to accomplish today and tomorrow. Do this every day, and reaching your goals will become a lot easier.

2. "Don't think, just do!"

Sometimes finding motivation to hit the gym or even get your a** out of bed is insanely hard, especially when our lives are so busy at times. If you tell yourself that you absolutely HAVE to do what you said you were going to, then there will be no time to think and contemplate about staying home instead. Don't worry about what might go wrong, focus on what will go right and stick to your own word!

3. Eat right.

Even if you're not trying to lose weight or gain weight, eating healthy still plays a big part in keeping your mind healthy and focused. Studies show that nutrition-packed foods help increase daily productivity and enhance your mood. Fruits, whole grains, vegetables and other foods that contain vitamins and minerals tend to be associated with lower depression and stress.

4. Have time to yourself and meditate.

Often times our lives can be so busy and stressful that we may forget to take time out and relax our minds. Studies show that people who meditate are generally happier and successful in coping with day to day stressors. By taking even just 10 minutes of your day, meditating can reduce your anxiety, help you sleep better and help you maintain a happy and positive lifestyle.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
