Self-care is more than just face masks and bath bombs, but sometimes we get so wrapped up in our everyday lives that we forget to do the little things. School, work, and all of the other responsibilities that we have to worry about can be time-consuming and wearing. Here are some things that you can do every day, or as often as you like, to help relax your mind, improve your body, and better your mood.

Yoga

A good way to get you moving and stretching. You can do it from home, just get on YouTube and find a good video. A little exercise every day is great for you and being good to your body can really help you get your mind right.

Listen to your favorite album

Or playlist. Dance around your room or jam out on your way to class. Listen to songs that make you happy.

Take a bath

Add some bubbles or a new bomb, or take a shower if you prefer. Feeling clean makes a big difference when you're feeling down.

Meditation

PRACTICING MINDFULNESS! Meditation helps you get away from the constant buzz in your busy life, this is a great way to get away from stress. You can find videos online for guided meditations, or download an app. Some apps even give student discounts for college kids.

Clean your room

Getting rid of clutter with your belongings can really help you get rid of the clutter in your head. Make sure your bed is made every morning. Put away the little pieces of clothing laying around before it turns into a pile. Don't leave things out on your desk.

Take a walk or sit in the sun

Taking a walk will help clear your head, and get your oxygen flowing. Just getting outside can be a nice break from mundane activities.

Drink water!

Preferably a comedy, Netflix has a lot of great stand up specials. Grab some snacks and a roomie, pick out a movie you've been dying to watch, and put away the homework for a little bit.

Paint a pretty picture

Or paddle if you're part of Greek life. Sketch out a new page in your bullet journal or write a new entry in your personal diary Read a book or write some poetry. Do something you enjoy and let some creativity flow.

Phone a friend

Facetiming someone that you haven't seen in a while will always cheer you up.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
