Just a little advice from me.

Little Things I've Learned Along The Way
Katelyn Johnson

My life has been full of ups, downs, and all arounds. Throughout my life, I have heard plenty of advice and given a lot back to others. Here are just a few little things I've learned along the way that I feel are important, even though they are not the most important.

1. It is important to treat those around you with respect. You never know what anyone is going through and they may be in a bad mood for a reason. Even if they are being extremely rude, you should just smile and be kind to them. You will really appreciate it later.

2. Hugs are important. They show love. They show care. Hug more.

3. Music is a blessing. No matter what, you can always listen to music. Your feelings can immediately alter from listening to just one song. Lyrics are powerful and you should let music take you on a journey.

4. It is okay to ask for help sometimes. Between little and big decisions, life can get hard. Sometimes we need guidance from an outside source to lead us in the right direction. It is important to accept that.

5. People will come and go, and that's okay. We cannot spend our lives dwelling on those that were not meant to be in our lives in the first place. We must let go and move on.

6. Enjoy the basic blessings every once in a while. I am alive, healthy, breathing, and am full of wonderful luxuries such as the ability to get a college education, not have to worry about my next meal, and not have to walk miles to get water. We are lucky. Be grateful for it.

7. Just because everyone around you is doing it, doesn't mean you have to. You are not forced to do something just because those around you are participating in it. If you are uncomfortable, speak up.

8. Stick by your opinions, morals, and values. Don't change yourself for someone else. What you believe in is extremely important to who you are; stick by it.

9. Enjoy sleep. Sleep is lovely. We recharge in our sleep. Enjoy the moment you get to spend each day curled up in blankets and not have to worry about whatever is on your mind.

10. Be open. Do not shut those out that don't necessarily understand you. Do not turn away an opportunity because you are scared. Be daring in life and don't throw away your shot.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.
