An Open Letter To My Little Sister

"I'm not anyone. I'm me. You can tell me anything. We're sisters. You're my family. What is you, is me. There's nothing you could ever say to make me let go. I love you." -Blair Waldorf

To My Beautiful, Loving, Little Sister,

I feel like I never really tell you how much you mean to me, so this is my way of doing that. I can't remember life without you in it. You have become the person that I come to with all of my problems. You are always there to help me and I want to thank you for that.

I know that it sucks that I am away at school and can't be there with you, but I promise it will be okay. High school is definitely tough, but you will survive. I wish I would've had someone there to tell me that I would make it because at times I was sure that I wouldn't. Life gets so much better after high school, you have to believe that. Never believe that things won't get better because they always will.

Even though I am at college, it doesn't mean that I am not going to be there for you. I know that you get upset because I can't talk to you as much as you would like, but I am trying my hardest. I don't want you to think that I don't want to talk to you. Sometimes I just get really busy, but I am trying to find time to talk to you as often as possible!

I am so unbelievably proud of the young woman you have become. You have been doing so well in school, even better than I did! I might not tell you as much as I should, but I promise that I really am proud of you. You have made me proud to call you my little sister. I wouldn't trade you for anything or anyone in the world.

I know that I don't tell you enough, but I really do miss you when I'm not home. I miss you when I am not with you and it sucks that we don't see much of each other. I know that it is still weird with me not being home all the time, but if you ever need me I am just a phone call away. You might have to call me a few times, but I will eventually answer!

Lastly, I want you to know that you are my forever best friend. No one could ever replace you, no matter how hard they tried. You have always been a constant in my life and I know that I can always count on you. Sometimes I feel like we are the same person, even if we are so far apart. I love you and I know that you will do great things with your life! Keep making me proud!

Love,

Your Big Sister

When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.

I am without a doubt one of those people who refuses to start decorating for Christmas or listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving has become an underrated holiday over the years. You barely see any Thanksgiving decorations in stores; it's like they skip right from Halloween to Christmas.

Some universities only get two or three days off for Thanksgiving break. Or, if your university is like mine, you get the whole week off go go home. A whole week off is a long time. I'm not complaining, because I'd rather have a whole week off than three days, but there is a lot of down time. Here are some ideas as to what you can do to get the most out of your Thanksgiving break.

It's that time of year again- Thanksgiving Break is finally approaching. For college students everywhere, Thanksgiving is a time to relax and not really worry about homework (well, depending on what major you're in).
