In just a few short days, Valentine's Day is just around the corner. February 14th marks the day where couples all around the world will go on romantic adventures and do couple things. However, for those living that single life or trying to win that special guy or girl, I wanted to share a couple of songs by the British girl group, Little Mix, that will get you into that Valentine's Day mood.

1. Black Magic

This song is about having confidence in a relationship or meeting someone. A lot of girls are played by guys who think they are easy to get. There's always been something about a guy that makes a girl lose confidence in herself. You can take me, for example. I used to pretend to be someone I was not in order to get a guy to like me. I liked the things they liked. I listened to songs they liked even though I had STRONGLY disliked them. I dressed a certain way in order to get them to like me. But it's not like that anymore. Black Magic is all about having confidence in who you are as a person, whether you're a guy or girl. Be yourself. There will be someone out there looking for someone like you. Don't try to change who you are to make someone like you. The right guy or girl will love you for who you are.

2. Secret Love Song ft. Jason Derulo

This song can be translated to mean so many things. The part where Jason Derulo sings is actually about having an affair with someone. I don't like the idea of cheating on someone or having an affair. If you're in love with another person, break up with whoever you are currently with instead of cheating. Sure, it might hurt them, but it's better than cheating on them. Despite this song having an affair meaning to it, I believe this song could also be about a forbidden love story that two people who are in love want to share. Society is all about appearances and rules. My culture has a critical rule that everyone should follow. It is to marry within your race or risk being shamed upon. As an Asian-American, I struggled growing up to be a "perfect" Asian, especially in the dating sense. I wanted to date outside my race but everywhere I went, there would always be that one Asian adult who put me down for wanting that. "Why not be with an Asian guy? Why do you choose to pick this kind of guy? Asian guys are smart and good-looking. You should want to be with an Asian guy." It's my life. The last stanza in this song says, "Why can't we be like that? Wish we could be like that." It's time to do something about it. Forget about what other people say and just be with who you want to be. Love who you want to love.

3. Hair ft. Sean Paul

What can you do when you can't get over someone? Get him out of your hair! Little Mix is insinuating that it is possible to forget about someone that hurt you. All you have to do is quit thinking about him. Hang out with your girls or go do something to make you forget about him. Now, you make be feeling hurt or angry because you can't seem to shake him out of your mind. He was hurting you during the relationship and he still is hurting you after you ended things. It's hard. I know. I've been there. I've been so hurt that I didn't want to do anything and fell into a state of depression. I thought I would never find anyone as good as him. I was wrong. I was able to get him out of my hair. I was able to stop thinking about him daily. He's not on my mind anymore. Someone else is. If you are single or end up being single for Valentine's Day, don't sit and mope around. Go do something with your girlfriends and have fun! Be you!

4. Grown

There's always a time where you like someone and you try to get with him. However, at that time, they didn't want you. They didn't even notice you. Soon, after a few years or so, they start noticing you and start trying to gain your affection. It gets frustrating especially when you think of what it could have been like if you had been noticed by him and actually started something with him. However, you stop thinking about it and move on with your life. It's not because you changed. It's because you've grown up. You've matured as a person and that's a good thing. If he's being a jerk about it, ignore it and move on. You don't need that in your life. You'll find someone who won't make you beg for their affection. You'll get it freely. In the meantime, hang out with your girlfriends and do something fun!

5. Shoutout to My Ex

The last and final song on my list is "Shoutout to My Ex". This song contains a lot about Perrie Edwards and her ex-boyfriend, Zayn Malik (former member of One Direction). In all honestly, this is all true to me. Their lyrics talk about how their exes have changed them for the better. "You made my heart break and that made me who I am." It's all about moving on after a bad breakup. You learned your lesson and now "you can move on to bigger and better things in your life" as stated by Little Mix singer Jade. The past is in the past and you're a brand new person. So shoutout to your exes, my exes, and whoever hurt us in the past because now, you and I are better people because of them.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
