Little Does She Know.

To My Role Model

2
Little Does She Know.
Hannah McCain

We all have that one person in our lives that we look up to, the one person whom we strive to be when we grow up and every little thing they do, you want to do the exact same way. This person teaches you everything they know about life through their experiences and knows you like the back of their hand. This person is protective of you, as you are of them. This is the person who knows you look up to them, but little does she know how much you actually adore them.

Little does she know I wouldn't be able to live without her. Whenever I have a problem, you are my first go to. You always find a way to make light of a bad situation. You have this way of calming others and making sure they know that it will be okay.

Little does she know that she plays the biggest role in who I am today. You are constantly challenging me to be better. Somehow, you always find a way to give me self-confidence I never could find alone. You will tell me when I am wrong, when I am acting immature, when I need to let it go, and you also never ever forget to tell me how proud you are of me and how much you love me.

Little does she know that I admire who she is and who she is becoming. Watching you grow and as you grew, you always made sure I learned from your mistakes. You treated me like I was your most prized possession (even though I was) and never wanted me to be hurt. You have never for a second doubted who you are as a person and will never let anyone take advantage of you, because you believe in your heart, God solely has control and no one can ever tell you different. The fire and passion you have for the things you love and believe in taught me to never give up and never let anyone tell me differently. You have been a prime example of what a Godly woman needs to be like.

Little does she know how grateful I am for her. I am not sure what I did for God to allow me to have the privilege of having someone of such integrity and so amazing in my life, but I will forever be blessed. You are one of my greatest blessings in my life, and the fact that I have you to look up to is just astonishing.

Little does she know how much I love her. I hope to one day be at least half the woman you are. I have never really expressed how truly amazed I am with you. You are one of the best things that has ever happened to me and without you, I would be completely lost in this world.

You are the biggest part in who I am today. Every step of the way, you have been there for me. You have displayed what unconditional love truly is. The way you expect so much out of me makes me strive to make you proud of me. You always find a way to bring out the best in me and never let me settle for anything less. Words cannot describe how much I love you or express how truly grateful I am to have you as my role model.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
