Someone once said, "Sometimes being a sister is better than being a princess." This quote cannot be more true. I am lucky enough to have a little brother that is three years younger than me. Growing up, I never truly appreciated having a little brother. I always thought that he was the favorite child, was annoying, and was more of a curse than a blessing. Now, I would not trade my brother for the world. Here is what I am thanking him for.
Thank you for always being there for me.
We may fight the majority of the time, but I know I can always count on you for advice and support. Whether I need an honest opinion on what I am wearing or what I should order at Starbucks, you are always there.
Thank you for always being honest.
Nobody tells the truth like you do. If I look terrible in the new bathing suit I bought, you are the first one to tell me and not hold on back on the reasons why it looks terrible. Yes, the truth may hurt sometimes, but at least I know the truth.
Thank you for being my partner in crime.
Plotting against Mom and Dad would not be complete without you. You go shopping with me, go to Dunkin' Donuts with me, take walks into town with me, and do everything with me. We make fun of the same things and have so many inside jokes. I'm going to miss having you around all the time in college.
Thank you for being the most annoying person in the world.
I mean this in a good way, seriously. Nobody in the world can be annoying as you, so I have built an immunity to annoying people. This will come in very handy throughout my life and would not be possible without you.
Thank you for being my scapegoat.
Even though I am convinced you are the favorite child, I can always put the blame on you. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but at least I have a shot.
Thank you for being you.
My life would not be complete without you. You are the person I can go to for advice, laugh with, cry with, and be myself with. I know you always have my best interests at heart even though we fight a lot. I can always count on you to cheer me up and to make things better. I am so proud to be your sister and cannot wait to see you become successful in life.
This article is dedicated to my little brother and to all the big sisters out there. Yes, we may want to kill our little brothers at times, but we know we cannot live without them. It took me until I was 17 years old to truly appreciate my little brother and it was 17 years too long. So, thank you little brother for everything. I love you.
